THANKFUL FOR THURSDAY: Agents, Mothers, and Writers

Once again our lovely lady group has come to the same conclusions.  3 of the 5 chose to say something about our agents!  :D

We'll start first with the best news and begin with Nikki who said:

"I'm happy to announce that as of Sunday I have agent representation for my novel, Shoreline!  Bree Ogden, of Martin Literary Management, contacted me last week with her offer, having read my manuscript in only one day.  After speaking with her at length on the phone, we decided it was a great fit and I accepted her offer.  She has great plans for the book, and I can't wait to experience this next part of my journey!"

Congratulations, Nikki.  We're so proud of you!  Can't wait to see that awesome book of yours in print.

Next we have Jessie, who's enjoying the simple life:

"I'm still hung-over on the glow of a perfect Mother's Day weekend.  We spent Saturday at the beach, playing in the low tide and looking for shark's teeth. On Sunday, we stayed home and officially christened the new pool.  Hubby entertained the girls so I could do a little reading in the sun.  And I got more jewelry than I've ever received in one sitting: two necklaces, a locket and a broach.  All hand-made of course.  This weekend just reaffirms the fact that it's the simple things in life that make you happy.  We didn't go out for a big dinner; there were no fancy trips to the spa.  But I wouldn't have wanted it any other way."

Sheri is celebrating some new found freedom:

"I'd been struggling with my opener to my current ms. After some great personal advice from a few amazing writer friends, I realized it wasn't my opener, but my lack of confidence to stand by my GUT. I've grown in confidence, believing in myself. Liberating feeling."

AE is taking a breather and relaxing after some very stressful days:

"I'm thankful for my agent, and her enthusiastic support. She balances praise with even-handed guidance for revisions. I'm also thankful those revisions are finally done!"

And myself, who remains undecided:

"I'm thankful for my family.  Between Mother's Day and my birthday on Tuesday, I've never felt more loved.  I may not have gotten fancy electronic devices or shiny jewelry, but I received the one thing I'm always wanting: time with my family.  Both my husband and my kids made sure to take time from their overfull schedules to spend it with me and I couldn't be happier.  And just as A.E. said, I'm thankful for my agent.  And for her constant support, sometimes snarky, but always spot on revision notes, and her never flagging enthusiasm.  And lastly, for my partners in crime in this blog coop.  I am truly blessed to have these wonderful people in my life.

So, ladies and gents, what are you thankful for on this wonderful Thankful Thursday

  2. How could I not mention being thankful for all of you cool ladies? We've only been a team for a little while but already I am grateful for your support and encouragement.
Interestingly, my dd's chapel topic this am was on being thankful. If you have thanks in your heart, there's no room for sadness. The more you appreciate what you have and are thankful for it, the happier you'll be!

  3. Thanks for this post! I've had one of those mornings so far (crabby kid, forgotten phone, late start to work). I needed this reminder that I've got lots to be grateful for, especially that one of my critique group members now has an AGENT!! Woo hoo, Nikki! You rock. :) Now rub some of that agent dust off on me!
